Chapter 9e - The Personality of God - Is Christ Jehovah?
This is not a small doctrinal difference.
This is about the identity of Jesus Christ Himself.

Chapter 9e - The Personality of God - Is Jesus Christ Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament?
Welcome to the Mormon Mann YouTube channel. I am Kendall, the Mormon Mann.
In this playlist “Joseph Smith and the Bible,” I am challenging over 80 of Joseph Smith’s teachings, and I am doing it using only the Bible.
In this particular Chapter 9 – The Personality of God, I am breaking this topic into five parts so you an study each question individually:
1. Does God Have a Body of Flesh & Bones? (Ch 9a)
2. Are God and Jesus Christ one God, or are they two separate Gods? (Ch 9b)
3. Can Man See God? (Ch 9c)+
4. Did Christ Create Worlds Without Number? (Ch 9d)
5. Is Jesus Christ Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament? (Ch 9e)
In this video, Chapter 9e, we focus on that final question.
Again, through personal training from Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith learned that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and was the God of the Old Testament. Jesus Christ was or is Jehovah.
Let’s examine what the Bible says.
Who Is the Savior?
Isaiah makes a bold and exclusive claim that Jehovah is the saviour:
Isaiah 43:11
I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
Isaiah 45:21
And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
It is clear that the Lord, Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament, is our “Savior.”
This strongly supports the idea that Jesus Christ is Jehovah.
Now compare that with the New Testament:
Acts 4:10-12
10.Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Acts 13:23
Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
Philippians 3:20
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
1 Timothy 4:10
For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
The conclusion is straightforward:
The Bible identifies Jesus Christ as the Savior—and Isaiah says Jehovah alone is the Savior.
That strongly supports the idea that Jesus Christ is Jehovah.
Who Is the Judge?
Now we are going to switch gears and take a look at the last resurrection and our final judgement.
Who will be our judge…God the Father, Jehovah or Jesus Christ?
The following verse is very explicit of God the Father’s involvement with the judgment and Jesus Christ’s involvement with the judgment.
John 5:21, 22
21. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
John 5:27
And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
I would like to remind you of this following teaching from Jesus Christ:
Matthew 16:27
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
The Bible is clear:
Jesus Christ—not the Father—is the final judge of mankind.
Saved By Grace or By Works?
We will be rewarded according to our works!

Understanding Isaiah in Context
The Isaiah quotes, when taken out of context of Isaiah and when used alone without any other passages in the Bible, leads to the belief that “God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are one” and that “there is no other God.”
When put in context with the subject at hand, and other support from the Bible, the Joseph Smith interpretation is clearer.
The first scripture to place in full context is Isaiah 43:10,11. A closer look at the real subject is:
Isaiah 43:7
7. Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Isaiah 43:10,11
10. Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was not God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
When placed into true context, the Lord is talking to the people He made, on this earth.
To these people the Lord is the only God and Saviour, there is no other God for them or us.
With this interpretation, of “us” being who Jesus Christ formed, Joseph Smith is in unity of the Bible.
This aligns with the idea that Jesus Christ is our God—Jehovah—over this creation.
Creation and “Forming” Man
It is a common belief that God, Jehovah, Jesus Christ created man. This doctrine is true. Many people believe that He created man out of nothing, which is not true.
In this next verse it states that “the Lord God formed man.” This was also used in Genesis when they created man and beasts.
Genesis 2:7
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Genesis 2:19
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air…
Through modern revelation, Joseph Smith learned that we, all men and women and all of the plants and beasts of the field existed as intelligences, a kind of spiritual matter with intelligence.
Somehow, by the Word of God the Father and Jesus Christ, they individualized us as Heavenly Father’s spirit children.
We lived with Him in the Kingdom of God until we came down here as His spirit children, where we received our body of flesh and bone.
I have a lot more on this concept in my Chapter 11 – Plan of Salvation – Pre-Mortal Life.
Are There Multiple Gods?
1 Corinthians 8:5, 6
5. For though there be that are called Gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
6. But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Knowing that Jesus Christ, the God that created this world and formed us, satisfies all potential contradictions that are involved with the three Gods of the Christian’s Godhead.
This leaves the possibility of other gods out in the universe that have nothing to do with Christ’s creations or us.
“I and My Father Are One”
Now a very interesting point that Christ made is in John chapter 10. This is where Christ declared to the Jews that he and his father are one.
This is really mind boggling! Pay close attention!
John 10:30
I and my Father are one.
This was the Jews reaction.
John 10:31-35
31. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33. The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35. If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
What was Christ talking about here?
Is it in the Jewish law that Ye (they) are Gods?
Where in their law that states that the Jews are gods?
Surprise, surprise, surprise! It is in the Jewish law.
Deuteronomy 10:17
For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
It continues in Psalm:
Psalm 82:1
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
It is clear here that there are multiple gods!
It is Jehovah here who is judging among the gods!
Remember, God the Father gave all judgement unto his son, Jesus Christ. And that Jesus Christ is our God to us in this world!
Also remember that Christ created worlds without number!
Does this mean that there are other worlds out there with other gods judging their children?
Are we alone in this universe?
Then Jehovah declared to the Jews!
Psalm 82:6
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Psalm 82:8
Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
This is where Jehovah taught the Jews that they too can become gods.
This is where Jesus Christ was telling the Jews “Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?”
Wow! Is Jesus here quoting Himself, as Jehovah? Like He said that they were gods?
Key Conclusion
From all these passages, two major points emerge:
Jesus Christ is the Savior, the Judge, and the Creator for us
Jehovah (Old Testament God) is described in exactly those same roles
Therefore:
The Bible supports the teaching that Jesus Christ is Jehovah—the God of the Old Testament.
When Jesus Christ, as the God of the Old Testament, speaks of being the God of the Jews he is speaking with power and authority from God the Father. God the Father gave all that authority to his Son, Jesus Christ.
The Biblical Support Chart
Is the following topic supported in the Bible? Yes or No
Does the Bible support Joseph Smith’s teaching that Jesus Christ is the God of the Old Testament? Yes
(Isa 43:11; 45:21; Acts 4:10-12; 13:23; Phil 3:20; Titus 2:13; 1 Tim 4:10; )
Does the Bible support Joseph Smith’s claim that Jesus Christ will be the judge? (John 5:21,22; John 5:27) Yes
With all of these topics on the Personality of God having Biblical support, I feel comfortable that, so far, neither Joseph Smith nor I will be accursed!
This ends the fifth part in Chapter 9. If you agree that there is Biblical support for Jesus Christ being Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament, please press the like button.
Final Warning from the Apostle Paul
As we see here in these five videos, the interpretation of three Gods being one God creates a major contradiction throughout the Bible. It brings back this important scripture:
Galatians 1:6-9 – 6. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:7. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel the gospel of Christ. 8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
This is very important to understand…if Joseph Smith and myself, teaching these personality traits of God that contradict a lot of the current Christian beliefs, is wrong, we will be accursed.
I do not want to be accursed!
