HOW THE TWO INVESTIGATIONS BEGAN

I joined the Church when I was 18 and left for a mission to Argentina North the following year. One of my first real spiritual experiences came while reading 2 Nephi 32:3:

“Feast upon the words of Christ... for the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.”

Those words have stayed with me throughout my life. I have tried to make the scriptures the foundation of my faith and to search them carefully for myself.

As I shared the gospel with family and friends, I often found that they were willing to consider the Bible, but they did not want to use the Book of Mormon or Doctrine and Covenants as evidence for the teachings I was sharing.

So I went back to the Bible.

I began researching Joseph Smith's teachings and comparing them with the biblical record. The material I shared with family and friends by email were at my fingertips. I was then inspired to research many more of Joseph’s teachings and turn them into a book. I researched 90 of Joseph Smith's teachings and published the results as Beware the Serpent.

Years later, after hearing Elder David A. Bednar, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles counsel that we should use the social media for good and building the Kingdom of God, I felt inspired to use social media to share this work. I renamed the book Joseph Smith and the Bible and began building The Mormon Mann YouTube channel and this “themormonmann.com” website.

The Second Investigation

The second investigation has a different beginning.

While serving as full-time senior missionaries as the Area Auditors for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central America Region, my wife and I received a manuscript titled The Big Picture of the Book of Mormon from another missionary couple. The author gave us permission to develop his work into presentations. That manuscript became the foundation for the investigation you see on this website today.

I have also written An LDS Convert's Quickstart — A Path to Mortal Perfection, a manuscript designed to help converts understand their path forward. I continue to develop new projects, but these two investigations remain the focus of this website.

My goal is simple:

Search the Scriptures. Follow the Evidence. Share what I find.
